In dogs rheumatism can occur due to many different conditions
Rheumatism is a common health problem, especially in older dogs. However, rheumatism can also be seen in non-old dogs due to various reasons. For this reason, as we always say, all dog owners must take good care of their dogs and always watch their pets closely. Because of the early stages of rheumatism in dogs, various symptoms are evident.
What causes rheumatism in dogs?
As we said above, rheumatism is usually seen in older dogs, but also in young dogs due to a variety of reasons. The causes of rheumatism in dogs are;
- Anomalies (abnormalities in innate bones can cause rheumatism in dogs)
These effects can cause rheumatism in dogs by causing erosion in bone cartilages.
Rheumatism in dogs
In dogs, rheumatism causes pain before everything else, and some routine behavior outlines the pain of a dog’s place. Dogs indicate rheumatism are;
- Do not withdraw when you are touched (if the rheumatic area is touched, the dog will withdraw from it as it hurts)
- I can not do the movements that I used to do easily (eg not going up or down the stairs, difficulty getting out of the seat)
- Perverted behavior
- Inactivity (always going to bed, getting up, not wanting to walk)
If you are observing one or more of the signs mentioned above in your dog, you should definitely take it to the veterinarian without wasting time.
Diagnosis and Treatment
When veterinarians are suspicious of rheumatism, they will draw x-rays to see the condition of the bones, not being satisfied with the manual examination. If these examinations and diagnoses are diagnosed as rheumatism in the dog, the physician will follow a treatment method according to the progress of the disease.
